KISS rockin' the Main Grandstand

This week has been a tough one for me. I’ve been battling a stomach bug since Wednesday night and I’m finally feeling better, so I thought I would reminisce about the better half of my week, the first half! This year I was fortunate enough to enjoy several concerts at the Mid-State Fair. I covered Carrie Underwood last Wednesday, saw Journey last Thursday (they were amazing! Click here to see the story behind their new singer Arnel Pineda, they found him on You Tube!), I channeled my teenie bopper by rocking out to Kelly Clarkson last Friday and channeled my inner rock star at the KISS concert on Tuesday. I wasn’t sure what to expect at the KISS concert, seeing as I only knew one song, the infamous, “Rock and Roll All Night.” I You Tube’d a few of their performances before we went, but other than that I was flying blind lyric and song-wise. My mom was pretty jealous that I was going to see KISS and she wasn’t, and now it’s pretty clear to me why she felt that way. Even after all these years, KISS still has it! The rockers put on a great show, complete with pyrotechnics, stunts and really, really, really loud music!

It was by no means a full house, but the group rocked it like they were playing to a sell-out crowd of tens of thousands. I think also one of the neatest things was seeing a good mix of older and younger people. One of the people sitting next to us saw his first KISS concert when he was a kid, and he was there with his son who was decked out in face paint, rocking out on the chairs. You could tell it was something very special for the two of them and it was the cutest thing!

So even thought I’m not the biggest KISS fan in the world, it will be a pretty cool thing to tell my kids that I got to see them in concert, because hey, who doesn’t want to “rock and roll all night and party every day?”
